Aircraft history 9Q-CMD c/n 74 Caravelle 6N, made its first flight on   April 14th 1961 and was delivered to Alitalia as I-DABI named   “Sirio” 8 days later. In February 1977 it was withdrawn from use   until African Air Charter bought the plane in October 1980. It had been named “Dibindi” and registered   9Q-CMD.
Accident description The 24 year-old Caravelle jet was damaged beyond  beyond economical repair at the Mbuji-Maji, Zaire airport and stored there for many years until being scrapped in the late 1990’s.
