Aircraft history VT-DPO c/n 128 Caravelle 6, made its first flight on   December 10th 1963 as F-WLKJ. Originally the plane was ordered by TWA but not   taken up due to financial problems. The plane was bought by Indian Airlines   and delivered on December 21st 1963.
Accident description Due to the excessive speed of the Caravelle on   landing at Bombay-Santa Cruz the nose wheel collapsed. Due to the frictional   heat the nose section of the Caravelle caught fire, which was extinguished   within 3 minutes. The degree of damage of the aircraft was that high that   VT-DPO had to be written off. No   persons were killed or injured.
