June 2014: “Poitou” was put on jacks today for polishing and wheel well corrosion works. To our surprise a large aluminium panel was riveted to the nose gear doors. Removing the panel revealed the original paint and markings – untouched for over 3 decades. There is surprisngly little corrosion on the outside of the nose wheel doors which will be cleaned and left in its orginal state. Blue color was used to neutralize the Air France titles and registration when Caravelles were withdrawn from service and stored in Paris Orly in 1980/81.
